dc.description.abstractThe Expert Consultation on Managing Fishing Capacity to Combat IUU Fishing in Southeast Asia was organized in Bangkok, Thailand from 15 to 17 September 2010. The Consultation was mainly aimed at following up on the recommendations by ASEAN and SEAFDEC member countries on the need to look beyond international agreements and conventions relevant to combating IUU fishing and to identify elements for sustainable fisheries management and controlling fishing efforts to combat IUU fishing in the Southeast Asian region. The Consultation was one of the activities of the ongoing SEAFDEC-Sida Project on “Activities related to Climate Change and Adaptation in ASEAN region with special focus in the Andaman Sea”.en
