dc.description.abstract"Fish agents" have always had considerable impact on the rapid development of Thai fisheries. First of all, they have encouraged the capitalization of fishery production by establishing close links to fishery producers. Their business-like attitude towards the fostering of commercial fisheries has encouraged a great deal of producers to invest further in the means of production. Moreover, fish agents have set up a nationwide distribution network linked to large consumer markets, processing factories and international markets. In contrast to other types of fishery traders, in terms of organization, fish agents have actually had the greatest influence not only on distribution but also on production. Accordingly, a most effective way in which to clarify the characteristics of the Thai fish market is to examine the activities of existing fish agents.en
