One of the key highlights during this quarter was the successful convening of the Fifty-eighth Meeting of the SEAFDEC Council. The Council reviewed the progress and achievements of SEAFDEC’s activities in 2025 and approved the proposed programs of activities for 2026. In reaffirming the strategic direction of the organization, the Council emphasized regional priorities, including combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, promoting science-based fisheries management, addressing marine debris and abandoned, lost, or otherwise discarded fishing gear (ALDFG), and enhancing regional cooperation.
