Report of the Second meeting of the Andaman Sea sub-region

The Second Meeting of the Andaman Sea sub-region was co-organized by the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), with financial support by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the SEAFDEC-Sida Project and the Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem (BOBLME) Project on 28-29 August 2012 in Phang Nga province, Thailand. The objectives of the Meeting were to provide platform of dialogue and cooperation on matters discussed during the First Meeting of the Andaman Sea Sub-region in 2009 such as integration of fisheries and habitat management, conservation measures for important migratory species (Rastrelliger spp. and Hilsa, etc.), management of fishing capacity, as well as combat IUU fisheries as well as to review the recommendations and actions suggested during the sequence of On-site events/sub-regional consultations/regional consultations conducted from 2009 to 2012 and to promote a defined and results oriented plan of implementation on identified priority actions on sub-regional concern.
