Integrated environmental and economic accounting in fisheries

Abstract
Details are given of a joint initiative of the FAO Fisheries Department and Statistics Division, the Institute of Advanced Studies of the UN University and the UN Statistics Division to produce guidelines for integrated environmental and economic accounting of capture fisheries and aquaculture in order to facilitate and promote the more widespread inclusion of the fishery sector in national accounts. A secondary objective is to contribute to the methodological discussion on integrated environmental and economic accounting.
