During the first quarter of 2026, SEAFDEC implemented a wide range of activities addressing key regional priorities in fisheries and aquaculture. A key highlight was the Regional Symposium on Marine Debris and Microplastics in Southeast Asia, which showcased significant achievements and findings from project implementation, particularly on abandoned, lost, or otherwise discarded fishing gear (ALDFG), as well as broader research on marine debris and microplastics. Building on this, SEAFDEC organized a series of Regional Technical Meetings to develop Technical Guidelines for assessing, preventing, and removing ALDFG in the region.en
