dc.description.abstractMyanmar is blessed with an abundance of fishery resources. Having a 2,820 km coastal line, 8.2 million hectares of inland water resources and about 0.5 million hectares of swamps along the coasts, it provides an ideal environment for various types of fish, both fresh water and marine water. In Myanmar, the fish production has been increasing consistently, from a mere 0.83 million metric tonnes in 1995 - 1996, to 1.579 million metric tonnes in 2002 - 2003.
